Degrafting work of Astrophytum capricorne var. niveum that was grafted on Myrtillocactus geometrizans of Astrophytum asterias, later the upper part will be placed in a cool, dry place in the shade so that the cut heals before proceeding with the generation of roots.

The cut is made with a very sharp and clean knife to avoid infections as much as possible and some healing agent is added to the cuts such as powdered sulfur. After about 10 days the rootstock can be placed again in the sun and after 15 days it is proceeds to root the ex-graft.

The generation of new roots in this species happened after about 3 months, although I consider the procedure completed after a year, which is when the new root apparatus is already robust enough to generate new growth in the plant.

In this process, make the cut in two different plants and until now they are developing properly in the substrate. Although one is growing faster than the other.

Previously, when they were grafted, both plants had had two flowering seasons, with which I managed to pollinate them and get seeds from them, to obtain seedbeds with around 60 plants, now after their rooting process that has taken almost 2 years, only one of them is blooming, we have to keep waiting.
